Infrastructure and Description of the Area

Refinery is located in the territory of the Special Economic Zone “Astana – New City” in Astana.

Brief Description

Manufacturing complex and deep processing of gold-bearing raw material with the capacity of 25 tons of gold and 50 tons of silver annually.

The project was developed in accordance with the best world analogues in refining the precious metals. When choosing the refining technology one of the main selection criteria was the use of environmental friendly processes. The electrochemical refining of the precious metals, used in combination with equipment in the process, ensures complete environmental safety.

Currently, the plant is able to produce refined precious metals in the form of bank bullion bars (standard and measured 50 grams) and pellet allowed to circulation on the international markets.  

Current Status 

The refinery was put into operation on December 19, 2013.

The first batch of gold was shipped to the National Bank of Kazakhstan in April 2014. During the period from 2014 to 2021, 182.9 tons of refined gold and 48.2 tons of refined silver were produced.

In November 2019, the plant reached its design capacity for gold.

In the same year, Tau-Ken Altyn was included in the list of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), the company was awarded the Good Delivery status.

In 2021, the company successfully completed all the activities required for performance as part of proactive monitoring, and once again confirmed the high quality of its products and services, having received the GOLD certificate from LBMA.

Since the beginning of 2022, an automated precious metals accounting system based on the AIS Dispatcher software has been implemented at the refinery.

The production program for 2022 provides for the production of 50 tons of refined gold.
