NEW HORIZONS OF EXPLORATION

Tau-Ken Samruk is considering entering into promising exploration projects.

          The national mining company updated its development Strategy taking into account the development of exploration projects. The updated Strategy includes 2 initiatives:

  1. development of own exploration projects;
  2. implementation of the Junior program.

Tau-Ken Samruk intends to implement a number of exploration projects, both jointly with partners (investors) and independently. In particular, the company received licenses to conduct prospecting and evaluation works for copper and associated components in the Kundyzdinsky and Berchogursky districts of the Aktobe region. In this area, the exploration program is designed for 6 years. Earlier it was reported that an operator agreement was signed with Fortescue to conduct search operations on a total area of 18,000 km2 in the Karaganda, Almaty, Aktobe and Kyzylorda regions.

Active development of geological exploration will solve the problem of under loading metallurgical capacities, depletion of solid mineral reserves, and replenishment of the country’s mineral resource base.

Reference: Kazakhstan has a significant potential for the discovery and development of new fields. Since the adoption of the new code on subsoil and subsoil use in 2018, more than 650 new exploration licenses have been issued, which significantly increases the probability of discovering new deposits.
