The PDAC-2023 World Forum is hosted in Toronto, Canada, from March 5 to 8. This is one of the most influential dialogue platforms where the problems of the geological industry and the mining sector are discussed. Every year it gathers about 25 thousand visitors from more than 130 countries. Kazakhstan is represented at the forum by a large delegation – members of the government, representatives of private business and national companies, including Tau-Ken Samruk. It should be noted that this year our country opened a National Pavilion at the PDAC exhibition for the first time.
Also, for the first time, the Kazakh-Canadian business forum “New Horizons of Cooperation in the Mining and Metallurgical Industry” was held in Toronto. Bakyt Chirchikbayev, the CEO of JSC NMC Tau-Ken Samruk shared at the forum about the company’s promising projects and opportunities for cooperation.
The business forum gathered one and a half hundred delegates, including representatives of government agencies, business associations, as well as leading Canadian companies: Hatch, CAMECO Corporation, B2Gold, Arras Minerals, Nutrien, Teck Resources Limited, Ion Energy, etc.
The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Canada in 2022 amounted to $838.6 million, which is 69.2% higher than in the same period last year. Since 2011, the inflow of direct investments from Canada into the economy of Kazakhstan amounted to about $2.7 billion.
