About 400 athletes from various regions of Kazakhstan competed in the marathon for the distances of 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km 195 m. The marathon was supported by the akimat of Astana and the Public Association “Athletics Federation of the RK”.
The race was initiated by Marathon running club, the honorary member of which is the seven-time record holder of the Guinness Book of Records, master of sports of international class Marat Zhylanbayev. The famous athlete himself repeatedly participated in winter starts for long distances, in 1992 he crossed 1,400 km from Ekibastuz to Almaty at extremely low temperatures.
