Tau-Ken Samruk is increasing the volume of purchases from Kazakhstani commodity producers

For M10 2024, goods worth KZT383 billion were purchased from domestic businesses, which is 66% of the total volume, while a year earlier this indicator was at the level of 57%. Over the period from 2021 to 2024, 1 488 of 1 513 suppliers have been local suppliers.

To date, specialists of the procurement department of Tau-Ken Samruk together with colleagues from Samruk-Kazyna Contract (the operator of Samruk-Kazyna JSC on procurement issues), QazCloud (the operator of the E-store skstore.kz), with participation of representatives of Atameken NCE, AMME, industry organizations and domestic commodity producers held an online round table chaired by Rakhmatulla Ablazimov, Chief Business Administration Officer of JSC NMC Tau-Ken Samruk.

Potential suppliers were explained in detail the specifics and innovations of procurement activities, and were informed about the measures taken to increase in-country value in procurement. Domestic commodity producers have a number of advantages.  In particular, they are exempted from all types of tender security, they are guaranteed a 30% advance payment, which is paid within 10 days after conclusion of a contract, the delivery term of goods is not less than 60 days, etc.

Experts consider the conclusion of offtake contracts to be another effective mechanism to support domestic producers. The point of such an agreement is that the customer undertakes to purchase non-produced goods on pre-agreed terms of cost, quantity and terms of delivery. According to the rules operating in the Samruk-Kazyna Group, the main condition for conclusion of offtake-contract is a long-term need and the availability of the imports of the goods due to the lack of domestic production. At the moment, Tau-Ken Samruk National Mining Company has concluded 14 offtake contracts with Kazakhstani producers.
