ALAYGYR MINING AND PROCESSING PLANT TO START OPERATING IN 2022

JV Alaigyr LLP has signed the EPC- contract for the construction project of the Alaigyr mining and processing plant (MPP) in the Karaganda region, JSC NMC Tau-Ken Samruk reports.

The Consortium, which includes 3 Kazakhstani companies: Temir Zat LLP, BauProjekt LLP and MCI Group LLP will develop design and estimate documentation, build and supply equipment for the processing plant.

“Based on the results of the open tender, the Tender Committee identified the Consortium’s application as the winner. After passing all corporate procedures, the EPC contract was signed. I would like to note that the contractors have positive work experience at such facilities”, – Danel Skakov, General Director of JV Alaigyr LLP, said.

During the construction of the MPP, 253 people will be provided with jobs; after commissioning, more than 400 jobs will be created at the facility. The volume of investments in the construction of Alaigyr MPP is USD128.5 million.

At the moment, the following facilities have been commissioned: two electrical substations, 143 km of 110 kV high-voltage line, 21 km technological highway. Mining preparatory work has been almost completed, and the construction of infrastructure facilities continues. The mining and processing plant will reach its design capacity (900 thousand tons of ore) by the end of 2022.

To recap, JV Alaigyr LLP was established on October 20, 2011, 100% of the share belongs to JSC NMC Tau-Ken Samruk. JV Alaigyr LLP is developing the Alaigyr polymetallic ore deposit, which is located in the Karaganda region, on the border of the Karkaralinsky and Shetsky districts, 130 km south-east of the city of Karaganda. The proven reserves of the deposit are about 1 million tons of lead.
