In September, the Samruk-Kazyna Fund announced the launch of the Gender Equality program aimed at increasing the participation of women in the management of the Group of Companies. By December 2023, the average proportion of women on the management boards, boards of directors and supervisory boards throughout the Samruk-Kazyna Group of Companies should reach 20%, by 2030 – 30%.
The Fund is already implementing a modular training program “Gender Equality”, developed as part of the instruction of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to increase gradually the proportion of women in the management bodies of companies with state participation. The organizer of the program was Samruk Business Academy. Earlier, the Samruk-Kazyna Fund has already signed an agreement on the training of female managers of the Group of Companies with the Atyrau University of Oil and Gas named after Safi Utebayev. An agreement on cooperation with the Alliance of Women’s Forces of Kazakhstan was signed in Astana today.
“On behalf of the Fund, I would like to express the hope that this modular training project launched today will really help to realize gender equality and will become an important and necessary step into an equal future. I would like to wish all the participants of the project that all your undertakings were only successful, and dreams were fulfilled!” – Gibrat Auganov, the Managing Director of Samruk-Kazyna JSC for Public Relations, Social and Labor Relations and Occupational Safety, said in his speech. The training program is aimed at developing managerial competencies and training women leaders.
To participate in it, employees had to have managerial experience of 5 years or more, send an application form, and also write an essay on the topic “Can a woman of the XXI century be an effective manager?”. In total, 179 women from all portfolio companies of the Fund Group applied to participate in the training program. Then, after confirming the managerial work experience, 147 applicants moved on to the next stage. After the stage of submitting documents and writing an essay, 80 people remained – those who passed everything on time and in form.
These are representatives of such companies as: Kazaktelecom JSC, Kazpost JSC, JSC NAC Kazatomprom, JSC NC KazMunayGas, JSC NMC Tau-Ken Samruk, JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, Samruk-Energy JSC and other companies of the Fund Group. On October 26, the participants of the program were tested to assess their personal potential. The next day, the training within the framework of the program was launched.
The first of the five modules was held on the topic: “The Board of Directors, Supervisory Board, Management Board – Roles and Responsibilities”. The participants were told about the concept and principles of corporate governance, the structure of the company’s management bodies; the functions, rights and obligations of members of the Board of Directors (supervisory boards) and executive bodies (management board and others); legal aspects of membership and work in the board of directors, management board and supervisory boards.
