The design of the Beneficiation Plant in Shalkiya was entrusted to the domestic engineers.

ShalkiyaZinc LTD JSC initiates the designing activities of the beneficiation facility of 4 million tons production capacity of ore annually at the Shalkiya Deposit. The contract has been concluded with the domestic Design Institute KPSP (Karaganda Institute Promstroyproekt LLP). When design stage and State examination are completed the tender will be open for the plant construction.

The design contractor has been selected upon the open tender. KPSP is one of the leading design institutes in Kazakhstan, experienced in operation with large industrial and civil facilities in the CIS and the former USSR (ferry complex in Kuryk Port, Zhairemsky GOK, “Central Dry Port” in the Moscow Region, etc.).

The Beneficiation Plant in Shalkiya will be designed subject to the best world practices and technologies in the scope of the zinc and lead ore beneficiation. Elements of Industry 4.0 will be integrated as much as possible in each production stage from production to enrichment. The domestic experts – engineers of Kazgiprootsvetmet are also in charge of the mine digitalization.

We currently keep active contacts with the EBRD in respect of the tenders for the mine construction, process equipment supplies and PMC Engineer (Project Management Consulting). All these tenders will be held this year at the EBRD’s online tender site».

The construction of the MPP in Shalkiya is financed by the funds borrowed from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and own funds of ShalkiyaZinc LTD JSC.

ShalkiyaZinc JSC, 100% subsidiary of Tau-Ken Samruk NMC JSC, owns the Subsoil Use Contract for the mining of polymetallic ores at the Shalkiya zinc-lead Deposit, 4 km away from the village of the same name in the Zhanakorgan District of Kyzylorda Region.

Total zinc reserves of the Shalkiya deposit amount for more than 30% of all Kazakhstan reserves. The territory of deposit is the 5th largest in the world with proven and probable reserves of 6.5 million tons of zinc upon the international JORC classification.
